Program Description:

  • Throughout practice there are many clients who have limitations and a practitioner who has developed communication skills is able to better connect with client and reach a mutual agreement of how to proceed with the patient. Core communication skills will be shared that will help practitioners –
    • Understand what questions should the veterinarian ask to help a client share what their time and financial resources are and their ability to comply with the proposed treatment plan
    • Learn effective communication styles to engage the client in their concerns and keep the conversation on track
    • Field the problem; leverage your diagnostics, Explain the options; engage in active listening; Together make an informed plan
  • Often veterinarians are concerned about what to document, how much to document, and what is required in their medical records. These concerns and much more will be addressed in the medical recordkeeping so practitioners will be prepared to properly document their records, especially in circumstances where they have pivoted away from their primary plan due to owner limitations or circumstances (Spectrum of Care).
