The GVMA Compass: A Member Assistance Program

Here for whatever direction life takes you.

We are providing a valuable benefit to all members and their immediate family known as the GVMA Compass. We have partnered with McLaughlin Young Group, an independent provider of member assistance services. There is no enrollment required and you are eligible to use the Compass through McLaughlin Young as of January 1, 2019.

The GVMA Compass offers help for personal and/or professional concerns by providing free, confidential, short-term counseling and personal consultation. Additionally, Compass provides work-life resources for such issues as legal and financial consultations, online learning and resources. They are a network of counselors that are conveniently located. They can help you improve or resolve personal difficulties whether big or small, personal or work-related.

Some examples of concerns that Compass addresses include:

  • Family conflict
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Relationship issues
  • Work-related issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Stress
  • Legal and financial issues

Confidentiality is one of the most important features of the GVMA Compass. No one will know that you have used this resource unless you offer that information or unless someone’s safety is threatened.

There is no cost to GVMA Members for your phone calls or face-to-face visits with Compass. The Georgia Veterinary Medical Association covers all expenses for member access to this program.

GVMA Members, please take advantage of this wonderful benefit! The staff at McLaughlin Young are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ready to assist you. Remember, the GVMA Compass is always a good place to begin.
