The Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Foundation’s PAWS (Providing Animal Wellness Support) program offers a lifeline to vulnerable individuals and their pets. By delivering free veterinary care to underserved populations—especially the elderly and disabled—PAWS ensures that the companions people rely on for comfort and emotional support receive the care they deserve.
Managed by GDA, this program works to reduce pet euthanasia rates across the state of Georgia. Our partnership with the Georgia Department of Agriculture enables GVMA members to participate in the Spay/Neuter Program. Though not open to individuals, the GDA values our broad reach, as 75% of Georgia’s veterinarians are GVMA members. The GVMA Foundation acts as the grant applicant and agent.
The C.A.N. (Colleague/Clinic Personnel Assistance Needed) supports veterinary professionals facing significant, life-altering events. The program enables the veterinary community to provide meaningful assistance to veterinarians, licensed technicians, assistants, receptionists, kennel staff, and their families during times of death, serious illness, injury, or other catastrophic events.
The GVMF Community Memorial Fund honors deceased veterinary community members by celebrating and acknowledging their significant contributions to the field of veterinary medicine. This initiative serves to preserve the legacy of these individuals, recognizing their dedication and commitment to improving animal health and welfare in Georgia.
The GVMF Pet Memorial Fund allows veterinary facilities, doctors, and their clients to commemorate and celebrate the lives of pets who have passed on, by donating to GVMF in the name of that animal and/or sending a beautifully crafted memorial card.
