Addiction Among Healthcare Professionals and the Georgia PHP

Dr. Paul Earley

7:00 – 7:50 PM

Healthcare providers often face high levels of stress, burnout, and mental health challenges just like the general population. However, the consequences of these issues can be more severe for healthcare workers, as their well-being can directly impact patient safety and outcomes. In this one-hour presentation, Dr. Earley will explore the mental health challenges that healthcare professionals commonly encounter over the course of their careers, and highlight innovative programs designed to support their recovery and return to practice. One such initiative is the Georgia Professional Health Program (GaPHP), a non-profit organization that provides confidential assistance to providers who are struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues. Sanctioned and supported by the Georgia Composite Medical Board and the Georgia Board of Veterinary Medicine, the GaPHP coordinates comprehensive care to facilitate a safe and sustainable path to recovery. By helping healthcare practitioners regain their health, this program ultimately benefits the broader community by ensuring the continued delivery of high quality, compassionate care throughout the state of Georgia.

Naloxone Training & Controlled Substance Inventory Management for Veterinarians

Dr. Heather Lindell Tally

7:50 – 8:40 PM

In this segment, participants will learn about references and resources available to them regarding naloxone and controlled substance inventory management. The instructor practices at the intersection of human and nonhuman entanglements; therefore, attendees will participate in learning encompassing human and nonhuman naloxone applications. Controlled substance diversion control relating to inventory management concludes the program with helpful tips for safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
