Review of Periodontal Disease and Best Practices in Disease Management/ Anatomy
We will discuss the causes of periodontal disease in both dogs and cats and what can be done to prevent and treat the various causes. Oral anatomy will be discussed in relationship to factors affecting periodontal disease.

Radiologic Diagnoses Leading to Various Treatments
Dental radiographs can make a difference in understanding and treating various disease conditions in the oral cavity and can make a big difference in proper treatment. The radiographs shown will convince participants that if they want to perform contemporary dental procedures, then they cannot be done properly without dental radiology.

Canine and Feline Extraction Techniques
Tips will be discussed that can make both simple and surgical extractions much less difficult to perform. We will also discuss how dental radiology can affect good extraction technique.

Oronasal Fistulas / Feline Stomatitis / Odds and Ends in Practicing Veterinary Dentistry
Discussion about oronasal fistulas will show repair techniques to ensure likely success. Errors that cause failure will be shown as well. The latest information about Feline Stomatitis diagnosis and treatments will be covered. In addition, tips and tricks about various dental diagnoses and treatments will be shared.

Instructor
Larry Baker, DVM,DAVDC
Dr. Baker attended the University of Illinois, receiving a B.S degree in Animal Science and a DVM in Veterinary Medicine. He became a Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry in 1994 and a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Dentistry in 2005. There are currently 203 Diplomates world-wide in 2023. Dr. Baker owns Northgate Pet Plaza in Decatur, Illinois, which is the location for Northgate Veterinary Dentistry, Northgate Pet Clinic, and Northgate Clinical Trials. The Northgate Clinical Trials facility is the only modern facility in the United States built exclusively to provide clinical trials for FDA approval to aid the pharmaceutical companies market and provide potential new medications for pets.
Dr. Baker lives in the country and enjoys farming, although his nephew does all the farm work. He enjoys running and has run fifty marathons-many of them with his wife, daughter, sister, brother-in-law, and his nephew. He has qualified and ran the Boston Marathon five times.
