ADA Responsibilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act kicks in at 15 or more workers. Smaller practices still should do their best to accommodate employees’ needs.[4]

Forms you should have ready access to:

  • Request for Accommodation (for the employee).
  • Request for Disability-Related Information
    (for the employee’s doctor).
  • Approval/Denial of Accommodations (for the practice).
Monitoring Implemented Accommodations (for the practice).

Things to consider:

  • Is my practice accessible?
  • Will both staff and clients with disabilities feel welcome?
  • Be ready to have upfront conversations with new staff to ensure your culture is open to providing support and accommodations.
  • Ask new hires “What do you need to do your job?”
