AWARD OF APPRECIATION – Dr. West Hamryka

Dr. West Hamryka received an Award of Appreciation at the GVMA Student Meeting on March 15th.

Dr. Hamryka has been our dedicated Chair for the Student Relations Committee for the last 6 years and we are very thankful for the time, energy and passion that he has brought to UGA’s veterinary students.


MORE ABOUT DR. WEST HAMRYKA

After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1990, Dr. Hamryka started his career at a referral practice in Miami, Florida. He later practiced as an emergency clinician in Brandon, Florida.

In 1993, upon opening Sugar Hill Animal Hospital, Dr. Hamryka fulfilled his dream of creating a state-of-the-art veterinary care facility.

A Gwinnett County native, he is past president of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the Gwinnett County Veterinary Medical Association, currently serves as a director for a local animal emergency clinic and as the GVMA Chairman for Student Relations at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. Featured in many news and medical articles, he also was an editor for WebMD Pets.

His professional interests include geriatrics, orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, anything “Golden Retriever,” rabbit medicine, and teaching future veterinarians. In his spare time, Dr. Hamryka enjoys being a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America Explorer Program and horseback riding with his wife and two sons on their farm.
