Diagnosing and Treating Lameness with Dr. Brent Credille – In this wet lab, we will cover common causes of cattle lameness and effective treatment options for the practicing veterinarian. Lameness is a common disease in cattle. It is a symptom that can result from many different conditions, including sole ulcers, laminitis, slurry heels, foot-rot, digital dermatitis, and others. Reducing lameness among your cattle through proper hoof care is crucial to preventing pain, and keeping them happy and healthy. The first step in treating lameness is a correct diagnosis of the cause.
Liver Samples & Trace Mineral Analysis with Dr. Brad Heins – In this wet lab, the technique to collect liver samples for TM analysis will be demonstrated and TM analysis will be discussed. The trace mineral nutrition of grazing beef cattle is an essential but often complicated management program component. TM deficiencies can contribute to a variety of subclinical and clinical conditions in cattle ranging from infertility and poor growth, to recurrent diseases such as pink eye and bovine respiratory disease. The best method to test for TM levels in cattle is to collect a liver sample for TM analysis.
*Wet labs are an additional fee of $50. Limited availability!
