Based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Resilience (MBSR) curriculum, this six- week course teaches mindfulness as a methodology for managing stress both in the workplace and at home. This course is specifically designed for individuals working in veterinary medicine and is taught in the context of workplace challenges common in the veterinary profession. Practical strategies for working with difficult emotions, stressful situations, and challenging interpersonal relationships will be explored.

Dr. Laura Smallwood’s veterinary experience includes 36 years in the practice of veterinary medicine, the majority of that as a small animal internal medicine specialist and practice owner. Laura began the serious study of mindfulness in 2016 as part of a collaborative effort to develop a 6-week mindfulness-based stress resilience program for her multi-specialty and emergency veterinary practice. She has since lectured and taught workshops on mindfulness for the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, Pathway Vet Alliance, Royal Canin, and Emerald Coast Veterinary Conference.
